About the Role:
North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS) is seeking an experienced General Paediatrician to join the Mount Isa team. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact in rural and remote paediatric healthcare, providing care to a diverse patient population, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
You will provide inpatient, outpatient, and Level 4 neonatal care, participate in outreach and telehealth clinics, and contribute to teaching and training medical students and registrars. The role involves on-call duties and leadership in clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver high-quality care across general paediatrics, community paediatrics, and neonatal services.
* Lead and mentor junior medical staff and registrars.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and culturally safe care initiatives.
* Participate in outreach, telehealth, and remote clinical services.
* Engage in teaching and research opportunities in collaboration with James Cook University.
About You:
* FRACP or equivalent, with current general and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Strong clinical skills and ability to work independently in a rural setting.
* Commitment to culturally safe care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Experience in teaching and mentoring is highly desirable.
