About the role
MacKillop Catholic College is looking for a full-time Work, Health and Safety Coordinator & Infrastructure Support Officer to join our team in Palmerston, Northern Territory. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff and students, as well as supporting the Infrastructure Manager with maintenance and upkeep of our school facilities.
What you'll be doing
* Develop, implement and monitor work, health and safety policies and procedures to create a safe work environment
* Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards
* Coordinate and oversee the delivery of safety training for staff
* Investigate and report on any incidents or accidents, implementing corrective actions
* Provide hands-on support for general maintenance tasks as required
What we're looking for
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Work, Health and Safety or a related field
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational or community setting
* Strong knowledge of work, health and safety legislation and best practices
* Excellent problem-solving, reporting and communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
* Practical skills and experience in building maintenance and handyman tasks
* First aid certification or willingness to obtain
