About The Role
AEMO's System Design Division plays a pivotal role in shaping Australia's energy future, leading the collaborative, industry‐wide engineering effort required to enable a reliable, net‐zero power system. The Division brings together experts in system planning, forecasting, future energy, and onboarding and connections.
As a Project Manager in the Onboarding and Connections team, you will be at the centre of Australia's energy transformation. You will work closely with new and existing generation developers and Network Service Providers (NSPs) to support the successful delivery of projects. Managing a diverse portfolio of connection projects across multiple technologies, you will coordinate AEMO's advisory role, assessing the system impacts of new connections and guiding proponents through the connections process.
What You Will Be Doing
* Embed a structured, transparent project and portfolio management framework that ensures every project meets quality, cost, risk, and timeline expectations.
* Support strategic resource planning by partnering with the Engineering Team Lead to assess workload across all projects, identifying resourcing gaps, risks of overload, and opportunities for capability development.
* Own and maintain the CRM system, providing accurate project data and partnering with the reporting team to produce clear, insightful management reports and connection scorecards for both internal and external stakeholders.
* Leverage modern project management tools to proactively track schedules, milestones, resourcing, dependencies, and upcoming activities across your portfolio.
* Engage closely with internal and external stakeholders to define project requirements, align expectations, and enable successful project outcomes.
* Apply agile, solutions‐focused problem‐solving to navigate unique project and stakeholder challenges, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
* Champion continuous improvement by supporting the design and rollout of process improvements across the Onboarding and Connections function.
What You Will Bring To The Role
* Tertiary qualifications in project management, engineering, or a related discipline, supported by a recognised project management certification.
* A wealth of demonstrated experience in project, program, or portfolio delivery within the energy sector or a similar complex infrastructure environment, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
* Strong understanding of the energy industry, including regulatory frameworks, commercial considerations, and the technical context of large‐scale infrastructure or engineering programs.
* Proven ability to translate complex technical information into clear, high‐quality written and verbal communications for both management and external stakeholders.
* Highly proficient with project management and CRM tools, with strong analytical capability to interpret project data and support decision‐making.
* Track record of effective stakeholder engagement, including client‐facing experience, negotiation, relationship building, and collaborative problem solving across multi‐disciplinary teams.
