About The Role
CMET is seeking a hands-on and flexible Multiskilled Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team. In this dynamic role, you will carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks on fixed plant and infrastructure across the light rail network to ensure ongoing reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
This role works on a rotating roster that includes standard 8‑hour shifts within core operating hours (06:00 to 18:30), night shifts, early morning “sweep” shifts on Fridays (03:00 to 11:40), and on‑call duties as required. One RDO is provided per roster cycle.
What You Will Be Doing
The key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
* Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on light rail infrastructure in accordance with Technical Maintenance Plans
* Conducting inspections, maintenance, replacement, testing, and cleaning of assets
* Complying with all safety procedures, risk assessments, and reporting requirements
* Advising management of potential equipment hazards or operational risks
* Using diagnostic tools, measuring devices, and power tools to carry out maintenance and repairs
* Operating road/rail vehicles such as the Unimog, track sweeper, and EWPs
* Performing HV/LV switching and operating tasks under CMET Electrical Safety Rules
* Adhering to Lockout Tagout procedures and electrical isolation practices
* Completing work orders using both paper-based and electronic systems
* Recording maintenance activities using CMET’s Enterprise Asset Management software (Hexagon EAM)
* Responding to infrastructure faults, including signalling, power, and communications systems
* Supervising contractors working on the network to ensure compliance with CMET standards
We’re Looking For People Who
* Hold an electrical trade qualification (an electrical trade qualification or equivalent is mandatory)
* Possess a valid C class Driver’s Licence (MR licence desirable)
* White Card, and certifications in Crystalline Silica and Asbestos Awareness (essential)
* Have a minimum of 2 years of relevant trade experience (experience in rail, public transport, or industrial/commercial trades is desirable)
* Are proficient in computer systems, including Microsoft 365 and Hexagon EAM
* Understand safety requirements, maintenance standards, and operational KPIs
