This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as a Carer Services Practitioner.
The Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a multi-functional human services agency that works to provide responsive, safe and quality services and programs that empower communities and improve social outcomes for all Territorians.
As a Carer Services Practitioner, you will form part of a dedicated team of professionals delivering integrated statutory and non-statutory welfare services to vulnerable children and families. Your duties will include the management, recruitment and assessment of new carers requiring liaison with other departments and non-government organisations, undertaking statutory responsibilities and exercising delegations under the Care and Protection of Children Act.
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have completed a tertiary qualification which gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, Community Work Australia or the Australian Psychological Society or equivalent. Your strong understanding of the principles and functions of delivering statutory and non-statutory welfare services, conducting strength-based assessments, developing and delivering effective interventions, and demonstrated capacity to interpret and apply complex legislation will contribute to your success in the role.
In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner. You will also have experience working with diverse populations and communities, including those from Indigenous backgrounds.
You will be working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with opportunities to develop your skills and expertise through training and professional development. You will also have access to a range of resources and support services to assist you in your role.
The Department offers a competitive remuneration package, including 12% Superannuation, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, additional 3 days paid leave over Christmas, 17.5% annual leave allowance, support to grow and develop your career, and the unique opportunity to experience the variety of work.
