This Role
The Medical Specialist position provides medical advice and senior support as part of the behaviour support services delivered by Dementia Support Australia (DSA).
You will be working within the Dementia Centre, supporting people living with dementia who are transitioning between different levels of care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive assessments and clinical reviews for cases within DSA programmes.
* Build relationships and engage with stakeholders within public hospitals and residential aged care homes relevant to case reviews and program delivery.
* Support and educate a multidisciplinary team of Team Leaders, Dementia Consultants, and Dementia Support Coaches.
* Liaise with medical providers and other senior health stakeholders external to DSA.
* Contribute to the development of guidelines, protocols, administrative processes, and clinical governance processes within DSA services.
* Apply evidence-based approaches and ensure outcome-focused evaluation and measurements within all work.
* Participate in the development and operations of other programs within DSA, Dementia Centre, and HammondCare.
Requirements
* A commitment to align with HammondCare's Christian Mission, Motivation, and Mission in Action.
* Current specialist registration with AHPRA as either a geriatrician or psychiatrist (Membership of the RANZCP Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age [FPOA] will be highly regarded).
* Significant post-Fellowship experience within the public hospital system, ideally within a leadership role.
* Experience in operating effectively in a multi-site environment.
* A current drivers' licence and safe driving record.
* Willingness to travel, including interstate.
* Strong administrative and computer skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Empathy and patience.
* Highly-developed presentation skills, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
