Core Competencies of the Role:
1. Understands the importance of ensuring a high-quality client experience and promoting a client-centered service.
2. Assessments of nutrition and dietary requirements for clients with a wide range of disabilities and impairments.
3. Supporting dietary requirements for persons with difficulty swallowing and chewing, bowel and intestinal issues, and complex co-morbidities.
4. Development of individual, evidence-based treatment plans and goals to address any deficits identified in these areas ensuring best practice and the client's individual person-centered plan.
5. Communicate assessed needs clearly and precisely to the client and the funding organization within appropriate time frames.
6. Speaking to patients to learn about their health goals and dietary needs, preferences, and restrictions.
7. Developing nutrition plans for clients.
8. Compiling information and tracking client progress towards their health goals.
9. Keeping informed about the latest discoveries in nutrition.
10. Speaking to groups to promote healthy eating habits and proper nutrition.
11. Maintaining professional development standards and seeking supervision where required.
12. Working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team.
Qualifications/Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, health, or a related field.
2. Member of the Dietitian Association in Australia.
3. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, public speaking, and listening skills.
4. Willingness to continue training and research to keep current on the latest discoveries and developments in the field.
5. Strong computer and data entry skills.
6. Compassion and genuine interest in helping others develop better eating habits.
