THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you a strategic and inspiring leader with a proven ability to guide teams and oversee complex service delivery? We are seeking a highly experienced Support Services Manager to lead the effective delivery of sustainable, professional, and high-quality Regional Maintenance Provider (RMP) services supporting the Australian Defence Force’s operational readiness in Northern Australia.
THE ROLE
As the Support Services Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the sustainability and profitability of NORSTA North, delivering tailored maintenance solutions to support the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet. You will oversee the daily operations of the support services department, manage a team of support staff, ensure the delivery of high-quality services to our client, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
An experienced leader, you will promote continuous improvement to support the long-term success and sustainability of NORSTA. You will embody NORSTA’s values and work diligently to deliver on our commitments, ensuring our operations remain profitable, sustainable, and aligned with community and industry needs.

ABOUT YOU
* You hold an Australian citizenship
* Proven experience in service delivery planning and management within a complex operational environment
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop support teams
* Demonstrated ability to oversee maintenance, logistics, and supply functions in line with contractual requirements
* Skilled in program coordination, scheduling, and administrative management
* Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and regional development initiatives
* Knowledge of compliance, safety standards, and technical regulation requirements
* Ability to deliver insightful performance reports and drive continuous improvement
* Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement and team leadership
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead and supervise support staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
* Oversee the planning, delivery, and coordination of maintenance, engineering, supply, logistics, and operational support services under the RMP-N Contract.
* Manage subcontractor and supplier engagement to ensure service quality, contractual compliance, and seamless delivery of support to clients.
* Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and support systems, including maintenance management and technical data, to ensure efficient service delivery.
* Monitor and evaluate support services performance, implementing improvements and reporting regularly to senior management on progress and outcomes.
* Manage the department’s budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
* Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to support regional development initiatives and ensure integrated service delivery.
* Ensure safety, quality, and compliance standards are upheld across all support activities, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
QUALIFCATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
2. Self-motivated with strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability; capable of working independently with excellent organisational, multitasking, and time management skills.
3. Proven leadership in building, managing, and fostering high-performing, team-oriented environments, with the ability to gain respect and influence team members to achieve targets.
4. Extensive experience in complex engineering, maintenance, and supply support systems, with a deep understanding of Defence engineering statutory compliance and safety standards.
5. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills, with a demonstrated commitment to leading by example through adherence to safety, quality, and personal behaviour standards.

SECURITY ACCESS/CLEARANCE
As a condition of this role, you must be able to obtain (and hold) Baseline Defence security clearance, which requires Australian Citizenship. A National Police Check will also be undertaken.
