Strategic Finance Leader Required
A purpose-driven organisation seeks a seasoned finance professional to empower remote Aboriginal communities through visionary financial leadership.
The successful candidate will lead the financial operations of our organisation, working closely with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless systems, insightful analysis, and timely reporting support our continued growth.
We are looking for an exceptional finance leader who can maintain our financial management information system, lead the development and refinement of financial systems, processes, and procedures, manage end-to-end operations of the finance team, and ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance across a diverse range of funded program activities.
The ideal candidate will have qualifications in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of experience in financial management, proven team leadership skills, and experience in not-for-profit, NGO, or complex program funding environments.
We offer a competitive salary starting at $135,000 + super, negotiable depending on experience, relocation assistance, supported onboarding, salary packaging up to $18,500, 6 weeks' annual leave, generous professional development budget, culturally grounded and community-led organisation, flexibility to work from Katherine or Darwin, and clear pathway to leadership as our organisation continues to grow.
* Maintain financial management information system
* Lead financial systems, processes, and procedures development and refinement
* Manage finance team operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, allowances, and reconciliation
* Ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance across funded programs
* Prepare insightful financial analyses and reports
* Partner with program managers to connect operational activity to financial performance
* Lead annual budgeting process and track program-level expenditure
* Oversee end-of-year audits and financial preparation for AGM
* Guide new integrated finance and HR system rollout
* Identify process improvements and lead collaborative change implementation
Requirements:
* Qualifications in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of experience in financial management
* Proven team leadership and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
* Experience in not-for-profit, NGO, or complex program funding environments
* Comfort navigating multiple funding streams and reporting requirements
* Excellent communication skills to translate numbers into operational insight
* Ability to lead system/process improvement and roll out new platforms
