About the Role
Retail Assistants (all duties) support the Store Manager in ensuring quality customer service on the shop floor, carrying out transactions at point of sale, maintaining the general appearance of the store area, assisting customers bringing in donations, sorting and pricing items for sale, and fostering inclusiveness and community spirit.
Key Responsibilities
* Customer Service – warm greeting, guide customers, assist donors and provide information on specials.
* Point of Sale – assist with sales transactions, answer enquiries in store and over the phone.
* Displays and Merchandising – ensure items are displayed attractively and safely, keep floors and displays clean and fresh.
* Quality Control – select items for sale, perform detailed inspection for appropriateness, functionality and presentation; handle steaming, hanging, cleaning, packaging and sorting.
* Price Setting – apply agreed pricing standards to all items before display.
* Safety – follow safe work practices, protect customers, visitors and team; keep areas free of hazards; comply with child‐safe policies and code of conduct.
Qualifications & Skills (Desired/Required)
* Experience in retail, sales and customer service preferred but not required – volunteers receive on‐the‐job training.
* Friendly and engaging personality.

Child Safe Policy
All child‐related roles require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check. Certain volunteer roles may also require a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
