The WorkSafe ACT Audit and Risk Committee (‘the Committee’) provides independent assurance and advice to the WHS Commissioner on the agency’s financial management, audit, risk, governance and compliance. The Committee plays a critical role in promoting integrity, accountability and transparency across WorkSafe ACT’s business operations.
The key responsibilities of the Committee are to review, evaluate, monitor, and to be directly accountable to the WHS Commissioner for reporting on significant issues relating to:
* internal and external audit
* risk management and internal control systems
* financial and performance reporting
* fraud control and integrity arrangements
* compliance with legislative, policy and governance frameworks, and
* protective security arrangements, including ICT and information security, business continuity and disaster recovery.
Job description The Chair plays a critical leadership and governance role to ensure the Committee functions effectively and maintains independence, integrity and accountability.
Key Responsibilities of the Chair
The Chair is responsible for:
* leading Committee meetings and ensuring effective and ethical decision making by the Committee
* ensuring the Committee operates in line with the Charter and the ACT Government Internal Audit Framework
* confirming the agenda, reviewing draft minutes and chairing meetings to facilitate open, robust, and constructive discussion at Committee meetings
* approving requests for attendance by observers or presenters
* reporting material governance, fraud, risk or internal control issues to the WHS Commissioner and, if required, the Minister, and
* any other responsibilities and duties requested by the WHS Commissioner.
