Finance Business Partner Role Description
About the Role:

The Finance Business Partners play a key part in providing evidence-based insights to inform strategic and operational decisions. They work closely with senior leaders and Executive Group Members to translate financial performance into forward-looking advice that optimizes resources, unlocks opportunities, and delivers long-term value.
They are responsible for guiding portfolios on budgets, forecasts, and multi-year planning, evaluating new initiatives, partnerships, and capital investments, and championing Finance transformation, digital innovation, and continuous improvement to drive change and support our strategy.
The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor with strong analytical skills, able to build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across academic and professional portfolios.
Qualifications:
* An undergraduate degree with a major in accounting or similar discipline, with subsequent relevant experience
* Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CAANZ) or Certified Practicing Accountant Australia (CPA)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and Executive Group Members, providing evidence-based insights to inform strategic and operational decisions.
2. Participate in portfolio leadership meetings, presenting financial performance, risks, and forward-looking insights.
3. Influence resource allocation and investment choices to ensure value-for-money and alignment with organizational strategy.
4. Collaborate with Product Management, Pricing, and Costing teams to provide costings, pricing, scenario analysis, and commercial evaluations for new initiatives, partnerships, and tenders.
5. Partner with portfolio leaders and senior finance leaders to develop the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
6. Contribute to rolling forecasts and multi-year financial planning models aligned with strategic objectives.
7. Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across academic and professional portfolios.
8. Ensure compliance with accounting standards (AASB), government requirements, and organizational policies.
