About the role
Working closely with the Senior Manager, Responsible Investment you will deliver high quality ESG research, analysis, reporting and engagement to support informed investment decisions. The role spans policy and ESG strategy, research, investment selection and monitoring, and active ownership, requiring strong technical expertise, analytical insight and hands‐on execution. It can be performed from the Sydney or Brisbane offices.
What you'll do
* Policy and Strategy – support the maintenance and enhancement of the Fund's responsible investment framework and policies, ensure team awareness of updates, research emerging ESG issues, regulatory changes and industry best practice and provide recommendations to the Senior Manager.
* Research & Implementation – conduct research on ESG themes, sector‐level trends, controversies, standards and best practice; prepare ESG thematic papers, manager briefing notes and Investment Committee inputs; support monitoring of the investment portfolio for ESG risks and opportunities.
* Selection, Monitoring and Reporting – complete ESG due diligence on investment opportunities, prepare ESG dashboards, metrics and reporting and support the ESG compliance review process.
* Engagement – support internal and external engagement activities, including active ownership, stewardship and proxy voting; coordinate engagement actions with external managers and stewardship partners.
* Cross‐functional ESG initiatives – provide analytical and coordination support for organisation‐wide ESG initiatives such as AASB S2, climate strategy, modern slavery, biodiversity, etc.
About you
* Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret ESG data and prepare high quality written outputs.
* Working knowledge of ESG standards and frameworks (PRI, TCFD/IFRS S2, SASB, GHG Protocol).
* Experience contributing to ESG processes such as due diligence, monitoring, reporting or engagement.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Qualifications at an appropriate level in a relevant discipline (Finance, Economics, Law, Sustainability, Commerce) or equivalent experience.
Nice to have (not essential)
* Familiarity with biodiversity and nature‐related risks.
* Experience supporting ESG disclosures to Boards, regulators or members.
* Experience with ESG data platforms, ratings providers or analytical tools.
* Experience within a superannuation fund, institutional investor or asset manager.
* Relevant postgraduate study or professional certification (e.g., CFA, ESG certifications).
