Overview
Apply for the Fitter role at George Weston Foods. Location: Perth, WA, AU.
Purpose of the Role
- Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on bakery equipment including ovens, conveyors, mixers, dividers, and packaging lines.
- Diagnose faults and carry out precision fitting, turning, and fabrication tasks as required.
- Support production teams with timely maintenance response to minimise downtime; display a sense of urgency when required.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and machine modifications.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
- Use MEX CMMS for work scheduling and documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with site safety, hygiene, and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute 4 on 4 off (rotating day and night) roster.
- Respond to break‑downs and urgent maintenance calls.
- Utilise mechanical drawings and technical manuals for all work.
- Perform welding, fabrication, or machining work as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve production targets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade qualified Fitter & Turner (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent).
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience in a fast‑paced food, beverage, or FMCG manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Welding, fabrication, or machining experience is a must.
- Robust safety mindset and team‑oriented approach.
- Flexible to work shift patterns and respond to break‑downs as needed.
