Mechanical Fitter – Drill Rig Rebuild (16–18 Week Project)

$72-75 per hour casual flat rate (based on experience)
12-hour days + optional Saturday
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team for a 16–18 week drill rig rebuild project based in Darra, Brisbane. There is strong potential for ongoing work for the right candidate.
This role is suited to someone who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and is confident working across multiple disciplines including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
About the Role
You will be involved in a full drill rig rebuild, working alongside a small, experienced team. The work is hands-on and varied, requiring attention to detail and the ability to work to a high standard.
Duties will include:
• Welding and fabrication
* Engine removal, overhaul and installation
* Hydraulic system rebuilds and troubleshooting
* Electrical fault finding and component installation
* General mechanical assembly and rebuild work
* Reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
What We're Looking For
• Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent) will consider trade assistant or hose fitter with right attitude and experience.
* Strong experience in heavy equipment, drill rigs or mining machinery (highly regarded)
* Solid hydraulic and engine knowledge
* Competent welding and fabrication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong work ethic and commitment to quality
