The Occupational and Diversional Therapy Department at the Bloomfield Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Service is a friendly and dynamic team which consists of a large number of Occupational Therapists, Diversional Therapists and Allied Health Assistants. We work as part of a large multidisciplinary team that is committed to providing all consumers with holistic, evidence based care that focuses on patient safety and engagement. We support and encourage our clinicians to engage in continuing professional development, much of which is provided internally as well as through supporting paid attendance as courses whether online or face to face. At Bloomfield MHDA health service our Diversional Therapists have the opportunity to be exposed to a range of mental health clinical areas including Acute Care, Rehabilitation, Forensic Mental Health Drug and Alcohol as well as Child & Adolescent mental health care. There is an activity centre where most diversional therapy groups are based with the scope to do group or individual sessions on the units or within other spaces. Our department is led by managers who believe in the importance of flexible work practise and ensuring staff have in place a good work life balance which improves on staff satisfaction and team culture.
