Python Engineer - Real-Time Distributed Systems Remote - Australia-based only Full Australian work rights required Salary negotiable to $150k Super Performance Bonus Engineering Without Theatre We design and operate low-latency, distributed systems that ingest real-time data, execute automated logic and manage risk in fast-moving electronic markets. Performance is measurable. Failure is visible. Correctness matters. You will build and operate production systems that run continuously under real-world constraints. This is core infrastructure, not feature churn. What You'll Do Build high-performance Python services supporting real-time workflows Design and optimise event-driven data pipelines with strict latency targets Deploy and operate containerised services in production across public cloud environments Build internal tools, APIs and dashboards used by technical stakeholders Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks and release safety Monitor live systems and resolve production issues methodically Write clean, well-tested and well-documented code Ownership is end-to-end. If it runs in production, you care about how it behaves. Technology Environment You'll be working primarily in Python within a containerised, Kubernetes-based environment deployed across major public cloud platforms. Our systems rely on: Event-driven messaging and streaming architectures Relational and time-series data stores Infrastructure-as-code and Git-based deployment workflows Production-grade monitoring and alerting tooling We operate real-time services with strict latency and reliability expectations, so performance tuning and observability are part of everyday engineering. Core Requirements 4 years professional Python development experience Strong understanding of distributed systems and concurrency Experience operating containerised workloads in production Hands-on experience with public cloud infrastructure Experience building or running real-time or high-throughput systems The Details Remote role - must be based in Australia Full Australian work rights required Salary negotiable to $150k Super performance-based bonus Flexible working arrangements Learning budget and modern tooling If this sounds aligned with the kind of systems you enjoy building, send through your CV or a short note outlining the environments you've worked in. All conversations are handled confidentially.
