The Principal Policy Officer provides responsive and strategic advice to identify and develop pathways to decarbonise the energy sector as part of the Victorian Government's Gas Substitution Roadmap. Operating in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and demands, the Principal Policy Officer is required to identify the short and long-term policy synergies that exist across DEECA and with other departments. Accountabilities: Identify, analyse and provide reliable and accurate advice and options on a range of overlapping policy issues, with a particular focus on energy policy. Provide responsive, succinct and authoritative written and verbal advice to the Energy Group senior executive team on a range of issues, including departmental policy direction and decision-making. Pro-actively build and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key stakeholders. Influence and negotiate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Contribute to the preparation of authoritative reports, papers, presentations, briefs, correspondence and speaking notes for a range of audiences. Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Relevant university / higher level qualifications are desirable in the disciplines of engineering, science and/or legal studies. This is a fixed term position available for a period of 24 months. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
