Job Summary
The Spare Parts Interpreter is responsible for identifying, sourcing, and supplying spare parts required for vehicles, machinery, or equipment. The role involves interpreting technical diagrams, part numbers, and customer requirements to ensure accurate parts selection and timely delivery, while providing excellent customer service and maintaining inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret spare parts requirements using manuals, catalogues, diagrams, and electronic systems
* Identify correct part numbers based on customer or technician descriptions
* Assist customers, technicians, and service departments with parts enquiries
* Process parts orders, quotations, invoices, and returns
* Maintain accurate inventory records and stock levels
* Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to source parts as required
* Monitor backorders and ensure timely follow-up and communication
* Ensure correct storage, labeling, and handling of spare parts
* Comply with workplace health, safety, and company procedures
* Support warranty claims and documentation when required

* Strong knowledge of mechanical or technical components
* Ability to read and interpret parts manuals and technical drawings
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Good computer skills (ERP, inventory, or parts management systems)
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Problem-solving and organizational abilities
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications and Experience
* Certificate or training in automotive, mechanical, or technical field (preferred)
* Previous experience as a parts interpreter, storeperson, or similar role
* Knowledge of automotive, industrial, or heavy equipment parts (depending on industry)
Work Environment
* Warehouse, workshop, or retail parts department
* May involve standing, lifting, and handling of parts
* Interaction with customers, technicians, and suppliers
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 38 per week
