They have a strong engineering‑led culture, with many team members coming from advanced technical backgrounds in engineering and robotics. Our client prides itself on developing unique, bespoke systems and has built a substantial catalogue of solutions that remains largely untapped. As such it is preparing for accelerated growth across Australia and New Zealand as well as international markets.
The founders have a clear growth agenda, which will be achieved through continued expansion with existing customers in the local market, while also establishing a strong presence internationally.
The Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager – Sales to drive significant domestic growth while leading the exploration of international expansion opportunities. This role will also assume day‑to‑day operational responsibilities, enabling the founders to focus on global markets and strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a technical solutions‑sales background in robotics or automation and the commercial acumen required to transition into a full General Manager remit. They will play a pivotal role in opening new channels for growth – particularly in North America – while ensuring operational excellence. Ideally, the candidate will have prior experience guiding a business through rapid expansion and transformation to deliver strong commercial outcomes. The General Manager will oversee Technical, Business Development, Service, HR, Finance, and Administration functions.
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong technical sales background in robotics or automation, with demonstrated success scaling smaller businesses and engaging directly with customers within Food & Beverage.
* Engineering degree in mechatronics, electrical controls, or mechanical engineering (highly advantageous).
* Exposure to international markets, particularly the United States and Europe.
* Experience with high‑end automation, high‑speed picking, and working with multinational food companies.
* Familiarity with bespoke automation systems and proprietary software for high‑speed picking robotics (significant advantage).
