The role covers RTB and COD asset sales, financial modelling, PPA strategy, and transaction execution, working closely with development, engineering, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end M&A transactions for wind, solar, and battery storage projects in Australia, from screening and due diligence through to negotiation and closing.
* Develop and maintain detailed financial models (DCF, LCOE, IRR, cash waterfalls) to assess project economics under various PPA, merchant, and hybrid revenue scenarios.
* Drive PPA origination and negotiation for sell-side transactions, including term sheet structuring, off-taker credit assessment, and coordination with legal advisors.
* Partner closely with Development and EPC teams to integrate technical assumptions, construction timelines, and cost estimates into transaction-ready deliverables.
* Support project financing efforts by preparing investor-grade materials, coordinating with lenders/advisors, and responding to due diligence queries.
* Manage external stakeholders including potential buyers, brokers, legal counsel, tax advisors, and grid connection consultants.
* Monitor Australian energy market dynamics, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to inform pricing and timing strategies.
* Occasionally support transactions in New Zealand and other APAC jurisdictions as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
* 5+ years of experience in renewable energy M&A, project finance, or investment banking, with direct exposure to Australian wind/solar/battery markets.
* Proven track record in selling RTB or COD-stage renewable projects in Australia; familiarity with major local and international buyers is essential.
* Hands‐on experience in PPA negotiation; familiarity with various off‐take structures (stand‐alone battery tolling, hybrid tolling, hybrid PPA) is highly valued.
* Strong financial modelling skills (advanced Excel); experience with P50/P90 analysis, merchant price forecasting, and storage revenue stacking is highly valued.
