Job Purpose
In line with Mint Payments goal to enable travel merchants the ability accept 100% of incoming payments and send 100% of outgoing payments, the role of the Business Development Manager is to grow transaction values by bringing new enterprise merchants onto the Mint platform and cross-sell new products into an existing portfolio of customers. The BDM is responsible for full ownership of the sales pipeline from open to close. To achieve and exceed sales targets, the BDM will receive qualified leads from referral partners and be responsible for identifying and sourcing new prospective customers.
Objectives and Key Responsibilities
The BDM role has the following key duties and responsibilities:
* Meeting target KPIs to win new business with a primary focus on the travel industry
* Growth and retention of an existing portfolio of enterprise travel merchants across retail and wholesale
* Execute sales activity plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.
* Managing sales pipeline and customer communication through HubSpot (CRM)
* Collaborating with marketing, operations, customer success, and product teams
* Maintaining relationships with key travel industry influencers and key strategic partners.
Required Skills and Experience
The holder of this role will demonstrate the following skills and experience.
Experience and skills - essential:
* Minimum 3 years experience in a business-to-business sales environment, preferably in travel, fintech, payments, or SaaS .
* Previous sales, business or management experience with knowledge or experience in the travel or payments industry is highly desirable.
* Bachelor's degree in business or a related field or similar tertiary education from an accredited institution is preferred.
* Proficiency in CRM platforms, preferably HubSpot, with the ability to manage sales pipelines, track interactions, and optimise workflows.
* Demonstrated abilities to exceed target revenue goals, provide excellent customer service, build long-term relationships, and work in a team-oriented environment.
* Strong focus on customer delivery and satisfaction
* Have strong written, verbal communication and negotiation skills, as well as solid presentation skills
* Able to effectively manage both internal and external stakeholders
* Able to liaise with various levels of management.
Non-technical skills:
* Customer/Service Focus—Ensuring action and responsiveness to the customer. Building customer satisfaction by focusing on the customer's business results.
* Accountability- Being responsible for decisions made, actions taken and assignments completed.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
* Great presentation, marketing, and negotiation skills.
* Proactive with a positive outlook and strong work ethic.
