Working within the framework of the National Mental Health Policy and SA Health’s values, you’ll provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to consumers in your designated practice setting. Under the guidance of a Level 2/3 Mental Health Nurse, your role will include individual case management, education, counselling, and facilitating group work, all essential to promoting recovery and optimal mental health outcomes. You’ll also collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community organisations to ensure holistic and coordinated care. To be successful in this role, you will have:
Qualifications & Registration
Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, holding a current practising certificate, and a post‑graduate qualification in mental health nursing (or equivalent to a Graduate Diploma).
Mental Health Expertise
Demonstrated competence in mental health nursing, including assessment, care planning, therapeutic interventions, group work and counselling, underpinned by a sound understanding of recovery principles and contemporary mental health practices.
Collaborative & Communication Skills
Proven ability to work effectively with consumers, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and external services, supported by strong verbal and written communication, time management and organisational skills.
Knowledge & Professional Conduct
A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, standards, policies, and codes of practice, including WHS, ethical conduct, medication management, and national mental health frameworks.
