The Technology branch supports National Archives in meeting its vision and achieving its strategic goals, through the provision of ICT services, technology, infrastructure, software, cybersecurity and the governance of its information and data assets. It is also responsible for assisting Australian Government agencies to fulfil National Archives’ data and information management requirements.
The Network Operations section is responsible for maintaining and managing National Archives’ enterprise network and ensuring it remains secure, reliable and robust. The section also leads the uplift of network infrastructure and the adoption of modern technologies across the organisation.
The key duties of the position include:
The position of Network Administrator is a hands-on technical role and under broad direction the main duties of the role are to
* Utilise specialist expertise and technical knowledge to deploy, manage and maintain key network technologies including:
o Enterprise network infrastructure (including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN),
o Fortinet enterprise firewalls and proxies,
o Datacentre routing and switching, and
o Aruba enterprise wireless networks.
* Prepare and review network related documentation, procedures and policies to ensure they remain current, effective and appropriately document key configurations and design decisions.
* This can include:
o Network diagrams,
o Equipment inventories,
o IP registers, and
o Standard Operating Environment (SOE) documentation.
* Lead and delivery projects of a technical nature, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for the network and to deliver improvements for the diverse program areas across National Archives.
* Undertake research, reviews and evaluations of projects to provide a robust, reliable, fit for purpose and well-maintained network in accordance with National Archives priorities and the government's Information Security framework.
* Promote and apply the APS and National Archives values and contemporary people management principles and practices in diversity, workplace health and safety and participative management.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the role you must be an Australian citizen. If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Baseline clearance level.
Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work on site at our Canberra offices. Requests for flexible working arrangements can be assessed on a case by case basis.
Notes
Qualifications or experience in the following areas are desirable (but not essential):
* Experience with Fortinet appliances (including FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiSwitch).
* Experience with Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Nexus
* Experience managing Aruba and Fortinet wireless access points.
* Experience or knowledge of cloud networking and security.
* Experience or knowledge of network monitoring and packet capture tools.
* Knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as the Essential Eight and ISM.
* Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, NSE or equivalent
