Are you an accomplished English educator looking to step into a significant leadership role in one of Canberra's most supportive and forward-thinking school communities?
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of English to lead our large, dynamic department and help shape an outstanding English programme across the school.
About the Role
You will oversee a thriving English Department of 22 dedicated staff, including part-time team members.
From **** you will be supported by two Assistant Heads of Department, allowing you to focus on strategic leadership, curriculum development, and staff mentoring.
The position includes a 0.5 FTE teaching load, ensuring ongoing engagement in high-quality classroom practice.
This is a full-time, permanent position commencing January ****.
Required Experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate one of the following:
At least two to three years of experience as a Department Leader, such as Head of English, Assistant Head of English, Coordinator or equivalent;
Six to seven years of experience as an English teacherwith proven capability to lead, mentor, and innovate.
Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and a genuine commitment to student-centred learning are essential.
