About the Role
We are seeking a Metallurgical Technician to join our Metallurgy team. This role is suited to someone who enjoys working with equipment, preparing samples, following test procedures and being involved in metallurgical testing from start to finish.
You will work across a range of metallurgical testwork processes including but not limited to sample preparation, routine gold recovery testwork, hydrometallurgical leaching, flotation, reagent handling, equipment operation, filtration, drying, labelling and recording test results. This is a great opportunity for someone with laboratory or metallurgical experience who is ready to take on a new challenge and further develop their skills in mineral processing and metallurgical testing.
Key Responsibilities
Metallurgical Testing & Sample Preparation
* Cataloguing and preparing inventories and samples for metallurgical test work
* Conducting flotation and other metallurgical testing
* Operating laboratory equipment including flotation cells, leaching vessels, pumps, agitators and associated equipment
* Grinding, conditioning, adding reagents, collecting concentrates, filtering and drying samples
* Monitoring and recording test details such as pH, reagent additions, pulp density, air flow and flotation times
* Labelling and handling concentrates, tailings and intermediate samples
* Assisting with minor troubleshooting of equipment and test work issues
* Maintaining accurate records and working closely with the Metallurgy team
About You
* Practical, reliable and comfortable working in a hands‐on laboratory environment.
* Enjoy technical work, have good attention to detail and be willing to learn.
* Certificate III or higher in Laboratory Techniques or a related field.
* 2–3 years' experience in a laboratory, metallurgical or mineral processing environment.
* Exposure to flotation test work, mineral processing or metallurgical testing.
* Ability to follow procedures and record information accurately.
* Hands‐on approach and willingness to work with laboratory equipment.
* Comfortable handling chemicals.
* Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Physically able to lift up to 12kg and wear required PPE.
