Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Linux Administrator with strong expertise in Vulnerability Management, Security Hardening, and Patch Management across enterprise Linux environments. The role involves securing, maintaining, and optimising Linux systems to meet compliance standards such as NIST and CIS benchmarks. The ideal candidate will have hands‐on experience with vulnerability scanning tools, automation, and enterprise monitoring platforms.
Key ResponsibilitiesVulnerability Management & Patch Management
* Perform regular vulnerability scans using tools such as Nessus, Qualys, or Rapid7 InsightVM.
* Analyse vulnerability reports, prioritise remediation, and apply OS and application patches.
* Manage patch deployment using tools such as Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, or Puppet.
* Ensure systems comply with security standards including NIST, CIS Benchmarks, and organisational policies.
* Track remediation progress and provide vulnerability and compliance reports.
* Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers including RHEL 7/8/9, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
* Manage system performance, availability, and reliability across enterprise environments.
* Perform system upgrades, kernel patching, and lifecycle management.
* Administer user access, file systems, storage, and system services.
Security Hardening & Compliance
* Implement CIS hardening guidelines and security best practices.
* Configure and manage SELinux policies, firewall rules, and secure access controls.
* Conduct system audits and ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
* Support security incident response, forensic analysis, and remediation.
Automation & Scripting
* Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Perl.
* Automate patching, configuration management, and routine administrative tasks using Ansible or Puppet.
* Improve operational efficiency through automation and standardisation.
* Monitor system performance and security using tools such as ServiceNow, BMC, and system logs.
* Analyse logs to detect anomalies, security incidents, and performance issues.
* Participate in Change, Incident, and Problem Management processes aligned with ITIL practices.
* Create Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Knowledge Base (KB) documentation.
* Support audit activities and generate compliance and operational reports.
Required Skills & ExperienceTechnical Skills
* 5+ years of experience in Linux Administration (RHEL 7/8/9, CentOS, Ubuntu).
* Experience with patch management tools such as Red Hat Satellite.
* Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
