The Role
We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our specialist services division. In this role, you will analyse, design and optimise manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reliability, safety and product quality across our operations.
You will work closely with production, maintenance, quality and R&D teams, providing hands-on technical expertise across process optimisation, automation, validation and project delivery. This role offers broad exposure across the full lifecycle of process engineering, from concept and design through to implementation, commissioning and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement
* Analyse existing manufacturing processes to identify efficiency, quality and cost improvement opportunities.
* Implement process control strategies, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), to reduce variation and improve process capability.
* Apply continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S and Value Stream Mapping.
Process Design & Engineering
* Design and refine manufacturing processes and equipment layouts, producing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
* Conduct technical assessments and collaborate with application and process engineering teams to develop fit-for-purpose solutions.
* Lead and coordinate technical discussions to finalise process designs, layouts and system requirements.
* Specify and source equipment, contribute to capital budgets and support execution planning and schedules.
* Prepare process risk assessments and mitigation plans, identifying operational and improvement opportunities.
Process Validation & Compliance
* Lead process validation activities, including protocol development, execution and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory, quality and food safety requirements.
Production Support & Troubleshooting
* Provide technical support to manufacturing teams, conduct root cause analysis on process deviations and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime and maintain consistent product quality.
Project Delivery
* Plan and deliver process engineering projects from concept through to commissioning, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and supporting on-time, on-budget delivery.
Quality, Safety & Capability Building
* Establish and maintain process quality standards, participate in audits and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
* Train production personnel on new processes, equipment and standard operating procedures.
About You
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or similar).
* 5+ years Proven experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment (dairy or FMCG highly regarded).
* Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
* Experience with process simulation software, data analysis tools and CAD.
* Hands-on experience with process automation and control systems, including SCADA and PLCs.
* Experience with process improvement tools and methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S and Value Stream Mapping.
* Solid understanding of process safety, risk assessment compliance and regulatory standards

* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to resolve complex process issues effectively across cross-functional teams.
* Able to manage multiple engineering tasks and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
