The role
We are seeking a dynamic and caring EAL (English Additional Language) Learning Assistant to join our Learning Strategies Team at the Caulfield Campus of Caulfield Grammar School.
This is a full-time, 6 month fixed term role beginning Term 4, working as part of a supportive and collegial team.
Under the direction of classroom teachers, you will provide support to students with specific needs by accessing curriculum and daily classroom opportunities.
A key part of your role will be assisting classroom teachers to plan, resource and implement quality educational programmes tailored to support the individual student needs.
As a valued member of our team, you will be part of making a real difference by positively impacting student experience and contributing to our school community.
Key duties
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of quality educational programmes.
- Work co-operatively with teachers to ensure continuity in teaching strategies, methods of discipline and ways of working with individual children
- Maintain appropriate discretion when liaising with School parents.
- Maintain written documentation on student learning as required.
- Contribute positively to the wider team and school environment.
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills and experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with English Additional Language learning needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, friendly, approachable, shows initiative and is organised
- Able to prioritise and ensure work tasks are completed in a timely manner and to the expected standard
- School based experience would be of significant advantage
- Minimum Certificate III in related field
- Current or be willing to obtain an Employment Working With Children Check
