 
        
        System Procurement has a whole of health responsibility for procurement planning and contracting for a range of goods and services, including medical consumables, prosthetics, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, medical services and indirects, on behalf of the Department of Health and Hospital and Health Services (HHSs). The Category Manager will be capable of providing leadership across all areas within System Procurement and may move between categories as required as part of System Procurement's workplace planning strategies. 
The Category Manager is responsible for identifying, undertaking and project managing the implementation of significant procurement initiatives, putting in place transparent benefits realisation reporting and for ensuring that robust contractual arrangements are executed that ensure perks are fully realised. The Category Manager provides guidance and support to their team and acts as a point of escalation for the team in complex supplier and contract issues. 
What we are looking for: 
Demonstrated experience in managing teams including excellent coaching and mentoring skills, identifying knowledge gaps and working to determine appropriate development activities. 
Deep understanding of category management processes and demonstrated experience in implementing category management strategies and techniques. 
Demonstrated experience in leading complex strategic procurement projects, including the ability to resolve supplier performance issues; support internal customers in the development of complex specifications; and ensure materials/services are delivered according to contract. 
Demonstrated experience building and sustaining relationships with stakeholders.
