**Narrabri Shire Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee Member Wanted**
We are seeking a suitably qualified person for the vacant member position on the Narrabri Shire Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC).
The ARIC provides independent assurance, oversight, and assistance to Council by reviewing the following functions in accordance with Section 428A of the Local Government Act:
* Compliance
* Risk management
* Fraud control
* Financial management
* Governance
* Implementation of the strategic plan, delivery program, and strategies
* Service reviews
* Collection of performance measurement data by the Council
* Any other matters prescribed by the regulations
Applicants will be expected to meet the experience, qualification, and independence criteria set out in the Risk Management and Internal Audit Guidelines. Council reserves the right to undertake criminal history, financial, and qualification checks as part of the assessment process.
Experience with internal audit is desirable but not essential. The term of membership shall be for two years initially, with the opportunity to extend, subject to a satisfactory performance assessment of the member's contribution to the ARIC.
Independent ARIC members will be paid a sitting fee of $800 per meeting, plus reasonable travel costs. For more information, please refer to the Risk Management and Internal Audit for Local Government NSW guidelines and attached terms of reference and information sheet.
