About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Geology and Survey, we are currently seeking experienced Geologists to join our BMA Technical Services – Mine Geology and Spatial Services Team. This opportunity is site‐based on an 8:6 roster with options for FIFO, DIDO or residential.
* Provide geological support to the site operational teams.
* Complete pit inspections/observations to maximize coal recovery.
* Update 3D models of coal seams and other geological features with pit observations, exploration drilling data, touch coal data, Measure While Drill or downhole geophysical logging data.
* Undertake highwall mapping to gather geotechnical and geological features.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate definition of geological features.
* Provide geological input into mine plan designs to support Geotechnical, Mine Scheduling and Operational teams in the safe and efficient extraction of coal.
* Contribute to and identify continuous improvement opportunities and participate in high‐value projects.
* Undertake geological data collection, interpretation, validation and reconciliations.
About You
* Tertiary education in Geoscience.
* Enjoy being challenged by a structural and stratigraphically complex deposit.
* Experience in undertaking pit inspections linking observations to coal recovery and geological model improvements/validation.
* Comprehensive knowledge of coal mining, structural geology, and grade control processes is preferred.
* Experience with Vulcan is preferred.
* Diligent, self‐motivated, excellent team player with positive relationship‐building skills and a high level of attention to detail.
* Ability to liaise, negotiate and influence a range of internal and external stakeholders; effective collaboration, stakeholder engagement and communication skills are critical.
* Strong commitment to safety and building team culture through regular collaboration with team members and key stakeholders.
* Valid Australian Driver's license is a prerequisite.
