Glasshouse Systems Manager
The Glasshouse Systems Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning and management of glasshouse logistics. This includes coordinating events according to the crop production schedule, embracing facility automation, irrigation activities, water systems, climate control, crop health, and productivity.
Main Responsibilities:
* Coordinate the cultivation and cropping program irrigation on over 3000m2 of flowering canopy while ensuring sustainability goals are met.
* Collaborate with cultivation teams to review, adjust, and report on cropping climate data under the supervision of the cultivation manager.
* Lead selected automation-aided production events in the facility through to Harvest.
* Liaise with Cultivation leads, staff, and Management to coordinate table logistics impacting facility production and overtime spend.
* Work closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot, schedule, and repair glasshouse systems assets.
* Maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and service provider contacts to enhance overall business performance.
* Inform relevant departments of cost changes, shipment issues, supply concerns in a timely manner.
* Identify opportunities for cost reduction, material flow improvement, and business development pertaining to yield and crop performance.
* Accountable for operation spending; budget management, reviewal, and refinement.
* Initiate and participate in actions to improve processes and performance of operations including collaboration with other facility and functional representatives.
* Provide project management support for facility operations and corporate initiatives.
Experience / Education Requirements:
* Tertiary or Diploma qualifications in Science, Agricultural Science, Production Horticulture, Engineering, or related fields.
* Pre-employment Security and Health Screening.
* Applicants with trade qualifications or experience in a similar role in glasshouse horticulture or controlled environment agriculture will also be considered.
* Experience operating comparable software system (Priva or Hoogendoorn) in a glasshouse environment, semi-closed glasshouse / controlled environment agriculture (CEA) facility.
* Irrigation systems programming (hardware and software) and a firm theoretical understanding of plant nutrition and hydroponic growing.
* Large scale glasshouse or production machinery and automation experience will be considered an asset.
* Proven experience in leading a team responsible for large work groups.
* Proven problem solving ability with similar production critical tech.
* Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Data driven with a proven track record of growth in a production horticulture environment.
