Position overview
We are seeking a strategic, dynamic and adaptable leader to fill a Program Manager role with the Australian Climate Service. The ACS was established in July 2021 as a partnership of the Bureau of Meteorology, CSIRO, Geoscience Australia and the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The ACS is a virtual agency that will integrate data, models, platforms and advice to support natural disaster and climate risk management policy and operational decision making.

* Program 1: Climate Risk Assessment and Monitoring (ACS Integration Hub)
* Program 2: Data and Information about Australia (social, economic, built and natural domains)
* Program 3: Climate and Natural Hazard Science and data
* Program 4: Services for targeted decision makers (customised services and engagement to support decision-making for risk and adaptation)
We are seeking a leader for Program 1 in the Australian Climate Service.
Role responsibilities
The Program Manager Knowledge and Insights will provide strategic leadership for service delivery, program management, policy and decision-making advice, cross-agency coordination and best-practice processes. Program Leaders enable the ACS to deliver outcomes and build capability. The Program Manager will:
* Promote and manage relationships and strategic alliances with internal and external stakeholders, community groups, sponsors and service providers.
* Drive and coordinate cross-agency collaboration initiatives to deliver innovative problem-solving.
* Research, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate program initiatives within a section or area.
* Report on program objectives and outcomes for Executive presentation.
* Oversee the use of service providers, including contractors and consultants.
* Manage risk assessment and risk management activities for a program.
* Plan, manage and monitor financial budgets for a business unit.
* Lead strategic planning with partners for longer-term initiatives with agency-wide impact.
* Coordinate program inputs to achieve outcomes efficiently.
* Uphold APS Values, Employment Principles, Code of Conduct and Bureau diversity and inclusion commitments.
* Comply with Bureau health and safety policies and procedures and support the safety of others.
Merit pool
The selection process will establish a merit pool that may be used to fill similar positions within 18 months.
