Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Payroll Specialist to join a team on a part-time basis (2–3 days per week, must be available Mondays and Tuesdays). In this role, you will take ownership of delivering accurate and timely payroll for over 200 employees, including office and frontline staff, while ensuring compliance with awards, enterprise agreements, and relevant legislation. You'll work closely with payroll vendors and contribute to payroll process improvements, as well as participate in global HRIS projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the payroll vendor to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees
* Interpret awards, enterprise agreements, and industrial relations frameworks to ensure correct pay outcomes
* Respond to payroll enquiries and resolve discrepancies in a professional and timely manner
* Lodge and manage workers compensation claims and injury notifications in line with legislation
* Confirm pre-injury average weekly earnings (PIAWE) for claims and ongoing wage compensation
* Maintain and improve payroll policies and processes to align with best practices and compliance requirements
* Prepare and consolidate payroll-related reports, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
* Support global payroll and HRIS projects, including system updates and testing
* Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive payroll information
Your Profile
The ideal candidate for the Payroll Specialist (Part-Time) position will have a strong background in full-function payroll processing, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and process improvement.
* Essential : 2+ years of experience managing end-to-end payroll for a medium-to-large workforce. Demonstrated knowledge of payroll legislation, hospitality awards, enterprise agreements, and industrial relations frameworks is required. Experience liaising with payroll vendors and resolving payroll discrepancies is essential.
* Ideal: Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to quickly learn internal systems and processes. Experience supporting payroll operations in fast-paced environments, such as hospitality or retail, is highly valued.
* Desired Attributes : A proactive and reliable team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple payroll tasks efficiently are crucial for success. High levels of confidentiality, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset are essential.
