Talent International is searching for an experienced **Test Analyst (BI)** to join our client, large government owned utility.
This role is based in **Fortitude Valley** on a 6-month initial contract with very likely extension.
**About the role**:
The Test Analyst (Business Intelligence) will contribute to validating data and reporting solutions within the new Enterprise Data & Analytics Service (EDAS) Microsoft Azure platform.
The role will work with the EDAS Test Manager and be part of the EDAS delivery team with the role focusing on ensuring quality outcomes for both data specific requirements and reporting functionality.
This is a multi-year program being conducted from modern facilities in the heart of Fortitude Valley but with high flexibility in remote working.
**Responsibilities**:
Work with the Test Manager and delivery team to create test plans to ensure appropriate test coverage in line with the test strategy.
- Create test scripts in accordance with the test plan for execution through the test framework.
- Work with Business Analysts, Data Analysts and Data Modellers to understand data platform and reporting requirements and translate these into test plans and test cases.
- Work with Business Analysts and business teams to support user acceptance testing and coordinate defect resolution.
- Execute testing across the solution to ensure high quality data products.
Includes, system integration testing, functionality testing, performance testing, security testing, regression testing, smoke testing, and production verification testing.
- Ensure test results are suitably captured for auditing and release management purposes.
Utilise a wide range of Azure technologies such as Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure APIs, and Azure Dev
Ops to complement the test methodologies and frameworks.
- Actively participate in team design and planning sessions as part of the agile sprint process and proactively provide updates and communicate risks or impediments.
**Requirements**:
Technical Skills
- Experience in testing data warehouse solutions on Azure.
- Experience in the creation of SQL scripts to validate report and business/presentation layer data.
- Experience in working with APIs for data ingestion and sharing in a testing capacity.
- Experience in verifying data in Power BI or a similar product.
- Experience in functional and usability testing of Power BI or similar product.
- Experience in testing user level security requirements.
- An understanding of metadata driven testing methodologies and frameworks.
- An understanding of modern data warehouse solutions including ETL/ELT processes and Data Lakehouse.
- Experience of python or a similar language is advantageous
Experience / Qualifications
- 3+ years of Business Intelligence experience in a testing capacity.
- 5+ years of working as a test analyst.
- Proven experience in report or user interface testing.
- A degree in IT, Business or related field.
- ISTQB or similar testing qualifications (desirable).
- Relevant Azure or cloud related qualifications (desirable).
- Experience at working in Agile methodologies and delivering business benefit incrementally.
- Flexibility and adaptability; able to work in ambiguous situations with resilience, tenacity, and a propensity to persevere.
- Have good problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Have strong oral and written communication skills.
