**Who we are**
The Property and Security Branch forms part of the People Property and Security Division and has responsibility for enhancing the department's business capability through the effective management of the department's property portfolio, property enabling functions, protective security, emergency management, as well as a range of corporate site services and commercial contracts nationally.
**The Job**
Property and Security Branch Assistant Directors are responsible for providing expertise across a broad range of activities potentially relating to one or multiple functions delivering the department's strategic approach to property management and services, protective security, emergency management and/or related corporate contracts.
Property Services (ACT and NSW)
These positions are responsible for managing strategic facilities, maintenance, and accommodation management, including driving facilities and contractor performance, and safety and compliance while contributing to the longer-term property portfolio asset planning and governance.
National Accommodation (ACT)
This position is responsible for the strategic management of office accommodation nationally, focusing on building internal data capability, processes improvements, stakeholder relationships and the efficient use of available office space.
Property Contract Management (any major city, eastern seaboard)
This position is responsible for management of property-related procurement and contract management activities, focusing on assurance and compliance. This includes the management of Property Service Provider performance under the Whole of Australian Government Property Service Provider Arrangements. The role would suit someone with solid stakeholder engagement skills and experience in government procurement.
The duties include:
- managing the delivery of the department's property facilities and accommodation management functions, ensuring safety and compliance, and optimising occupancy
- working with the department's Property Service Provider regarding performance in relation to facilities and accommodation management activities, including:
- monitoring development and achievement of preventative (scheduled) maintenance
- building services, building inspection and condition assessment
- identifying systemic issues with asset performance, contingency planning and compliance with Commonwealth requirements
- overseeing policy reporting activities for property-related contracts to ensure the department's obligations are met
- contributing to the strategic analysis of the property portfolio performance and evolving departmental current and future business needs, property holdings strategies and the Commonwealth Property Management Framework.
- contributing to the identification, development and implementation of opportunities to improve management practices and processes, including input to relevant internal policies and guidelines
- providing strategic advice and assistance to Senior Executives and stakeholders on property facilities and accommodation management, asset management, planning frameworks, procurements and contracts
- delivering against the annual branch Business and Risk Plans that align with organisational business and strategic objectives
- managing key stakeholder relationships, internal and external, to ensure the delivery of enabling services meet business needs
- providing leadership to Property and Security Branch staff, including coaching, capability development, innovation and problem solving
- managing the departments spatial management platform and build data capability
- sourcing, analysing and maintaining multiple data sets to inform decision making on future office requirements
- managing the department's Property Service Provider in relation to overall performance and contract management across all Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) Deed deliverables.
