Offer description

A new role awaits

Do you want your work to directly improve outcomes for people with disability?

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is seeking motivated, values driven professionals to join the Assurance Planning Team as APS5 Planners.

This is a frontline planning and assurance role where you'll help ensure NDIS decisions are high quality, transparent, and sustainable. You'll work with participants, their representatives, and a broad range of stakeholders to support evidence-based planning decisions that align with legislation, policy, and reform objectives.

The Assurance Planning Team was established as part of the Australian Government's Reforms for Outcomes initiative and plays a critical role in strengthening confidence and consistency across the Scheme. Your work will help translate policy intent into meaningful, person centred outcomes.

The key duties of the position include:
* Undertake participant planning and assurance activities by working closely with participants and their representatives to identify current and future supports that align with participant goals.
* Gather, analyse and apply evidence from participants, planning partners, and multiple internal and external stakeholders to support high quality, consistent, and evidence-based decisions.
* Determine funded supports and resolve plan related issues, including responding to moderately complex enquiries and clearly communicating planning outcomes.
* Manage workflow and operational tasks, maintaining accurate participant records and contributing to team performance targets.
* Collaborate within the Assurance Planning Team to support consistency, quality improvement, and sustainability of planning decisions.

You'll balance autonomy with collaboration, working in a fast paced environment while being supported by a knowledgeable and purpose driven team.

Eligibility

You are a motivated professional who is passionate about making a difference and are aligned to our NDIA values.

You bring:

* A participant centred mindset, ensuring lived experience, individual circumstances, and goals are central to decision making
* The ability to work independently with confidence, while contributing positively to a supportive team culture
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including managing sensitive or complex conversations with professionalism and empathy
* Sound judgement and analytical capability to interpret evidence and apply legislation, policy, and guidance
* A commitment to continuous learning and improvement in a reform and assurance environment

You will demonstrate empathy, cultural competence, professionalism, integrity, and accountability, alongside adaptability and resilience in a changing environment. Experience in disability, human services, health, or government is beneficial, but not essential - transferable skills and the right mindset are highly valued.

Notes

General & Affirmative Measures – Disability & First Nations

*Please note - Affirmative Measures provisions are also open for these positions. The affirmative measure positions are to improve employment opportunities for people with a disability and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in the Australian Public Service. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.

Getting to know the National Disability Insurance Agency

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life. The NDIS also connects anyone with disability to services in their community. This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory government. The NDIS now supports over 500,000 Australians with disability to access the services and supports they need. This includes supporting approximately 80,000 children with developmental delay, ensuring they receive supports early so that they achieve the best outcomes throughout their lives.
