ASC is seeking an experienced Inventory Manager to provide end-to-end inventory planning, optimisation, and strategic material stewardship supporting both current operational demands ****** days) and forward inventory strategy (9–60 months).
This is a leadership role ensuring material availability for Collins Class Submarine maintenance and operational readiness — balancing immediate supply needs with long-term planning and investment modelling.
The inventory team also support the transition to future programmes.
This role sits at the heart of ASC's mission: To be an enduring and integral part of Australia's maritime strategy and national security.
The role
You will lead inventory planning, analytics, stock optimisation and procurement interface activities to support both in-service requirements and future submarine sustainment.
Responsibilities include:
Operational Inventory Leadership ****** day horizon)
Ensure availability of materials for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
Manage stock levels, movements, and asset positioning
Provide real-time transparency on inventory status to operations
Investigate supply discrepancies and support Root Cause Analysis
Strategic & Forward Inventory Planning (9–60 month horizon)
Maintain long-term inventory planning and forecasting
Lead establishment and upkeep of the Forward Material Estimate
Plan for future material requirements associated with the Integrated Maintenance Schedule
Support delivery of the CCSM Inventory Investment Plan
Key leadership & governance responsibilities
Manage, mentor and develop inventory team members
Drive continuous improvement and inventory optimisation initiatives
Ensure compliance with enterprise risk and WHS frameworks
Build and sustain strong stakeholder relationships internally and externally
Uphold ASC values: Service, Safety, Leadership, Integrity, Results and Innovation
About you
You are a supply-chain professional with deep domain knowledge and analytical capability and exceptional stakeholder management skills.
Essential qualifications and experience:
Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain or Inventory Management
Significant experience in inventory roles in complex defence, manufacturing, mining or heavy industry
Strong capability in ERP, MRP, inventory optimisation tools and data analysis
Eligible for Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1)
