Mars Recruitment is partnering with a large and well-established organisation with a highly distributed national technology environment. Due to continued investment in infrastructure modernisation, they are seeking a Senior Network & Communications Engineer to play a key role in the design, implementation and ongoing support of their enterprise networking environment. This role will suit a highly technical network engineer who enjoys working across architecture, implementation and operational support while helping modernise complex enterprise networks.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Network & Unified Communications Lead, you will take ownership of key network platforms and contribute to the design and delivery of scalable, secure and high-performing network solutions across a large multi-site environment. You will play a critical role in network modernisation initiatives, supporting both BAU operations and strategic infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement and support enterprise networking solutions across a large distributed environment
* Provide technical leadership across network infrastructure including WAN, campus networking and security platforms
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and telecommunications issues
* Contribute to high-level architecture, solution design and technical documentation
* Support governance, processes and operational standards for network operations
* Collaborate with infrastructure, cyber security and broader IT teams to deliver integrated solutions
* Maintain accurate design and operational documentation
* Identify opportunities for network improvements, optimisation and future upgrades
* Provide technical guidance to stakeholders and project teams on network solutions
Technical Environment
You will work across a modern enterprise networking stack including:
* Cisco SD-WAN
* Cisco Software Defined Access (SDA)
* Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
* Cisco Catalyst Centre
* Palo Alto Firewalls
* Cisco Nexus switching
* Enterprise wireless networking platforms
* Routing protocols including OSPF, BGP and EIGRP
About You
To be successful in this role you will bring:
* 5+ years' experience working in enterprise network engineering roles
* Strong experience designing and supporting large-scale distributed networks
* Deep technical expertise across Cisco networking technologies
* Experience with SD-WAN, network automation and modern campus architectures
* Strong troubleshooting and operational support capability
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
* Relevant certifications such as CCNP or CCIE (preferred)
Desirable Experience
* Cisco Unified Communications environments (Call Manager, Unity, UCCX)
* Enterprise voice, video or collaboration platforms
