Job Opportunity: Support Worker (Lived Experience)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Brothers Healing team as a Support Worker with lived experience.
This unique role is ideal for someone who has personal experience of the justice system, homelessness, or recovery from alcohol and other drugs (AOD), and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
* Foster trust and build strong relationships with clients using their shared life experiences
* Support the implementation of personalized case plans and coordinate access to relevant services
* Contribute valuable insights to enhance client engagement and service strategies
* Offer empathy, hope, and practical support through shared understanding
* Help clients access stable housing, essential services, and community connections
* Co-facilitate wellness and inclusion activities that promote positive change
* Collaborate with case managers and the wider support team to ensure a safe and inclusive environment
* Maintain accurate and confidential client records
Requirements:
* Lived experience relevant to the client group (justice system, homelessness, AOD recovery)
* Certificate III in Community Services or willingness to work towards it
* Strong communication, teamwork, and self-reflection skills
* Ability to work in alignment with trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practices
* Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles and The Salvation Army's Model of Care
