EL1 Reviews Manager
This role will be supporting the Commission's legislated responsibilities in relation to reviewable regulatory and complaints decisions under the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act 2018 and associated Rules. The section also has portfolio responsibility for the interface with the Inspector-General of Aged Care and the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
**Key Accountabilities**:
Supporting the Commission's obligation to maintain an independent internal review mechanism, in line with expectations of government bodies.
Undertaking merit-based reviews and reconsiderations of regulatory decisions, such as provider approval, quality assessment, compliance, banning order and complaints decisions, in accordance with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Rules Act and Rules. Undertake new complaint resolution processes for more complex, sensitive or high-priority complaints.
Making decisions as a delegate for selected reviews, requiring you to make fair, correct and preferable decisions in line with administrative law principles.
Supporting the team's role to manage the interface between the Commission and the Inspector-General of Aged Care including assisting management of information requests and coordinating Commission responses to inquiries.
Supporting the team's role in responding on behalf of the Commission to Commonwealth Ombudsman requests and investigations.
Providing leadership to more junior officers within the team and providing support through peer review and feedback. Undertaking supervisory responsibilities when required.
Demonstrating excellent judgement, expertise and knowledge while identifying, managing and escalating risks to consumers, providers and the Commission. Engaging with specialist advice (e.g. legal and/or clinical) to ensure technically accurate and defensible decisions.
Working with the Review Director to balance individual priorities in order to meet legislated timeframes.
Working constructively with consumers, providers and other stakeholders to take relevant and proportionate action to promote regulatory compliance and achieve improved consumer outcomes.
Managing relationships with stakeholders with a high degree of independence and understanding the requirements and processes of related areas of the Commission.
Contributing to the Group's role in continuous improvement, including preparing feedback, monitoring trends, identifying training needs and contributing to projects to support decision-making capabilities across the Commission.
Contributing to the team's program of internal continuous improvement activities and preparations for the commencement of the new Aged Care Act from 1 July 2025.

**Key Accountabilities**:
Working with Review Managers to undertake reviews and reconsiderations of regulatory decisions, such as provider approval, quality assessment, compliance, banning order and complaints decisions, in accordance with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act and Rules. It also includes undertaking a new resolution process for complaints if warranted.
Assisting with the team's role in responding to inquiries and investigations of the Inspector-General of Aged Care and the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
Demonstrating good judgement, expertise and knowledge while identifying and escalating risks to consumers, providers and the Commission.
Working with Review Managers to balance individual priorities in order to meet legislated timeframes.
Working constructively with consumers, providers and other stakeholders to resolve concerns and achieve improved consumer outcomes.
Engaging with specialist advice (e.g. legal and/or clinical) to inform good decision-making.

Contributing to the Group's role in continuous improvement and to the continuous improvement of the team's processes and practices.
**Position Notes**:
Salary offered will be between APS6 $92,970 - $104,883, EL1 - $114,247 - $130,300 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
