About the role Are you an experienced Structural Engineer looking to join a leading company in the electrical manufacturing industry? Based in our Edinburgh modern manufacturing facility, Mayfield is seeking two full-time Structural Engineers to create structural designs for steel-structured switchrooms in line with production and business needs. This role will prepare engineering calculations and sketches, review and check engineering drawings, and work collaboratively with the Engineering and Design team with delivery of projects. This role will be part of the Engineering & Design team, working with clients across a variety of industries, including: Renewable Energy Infrastructure Power Generation & Transmission Water & Wastewater Mining Heavy Industry Minerals & Metals Processing Oil & Gas What you'll be doing Learn and understand Mayfield Industries design and construction methods to deliver details that conform to Mayfield Industries standard practices. Understand Mayfield Industries construction strategy and recommend/implement activities to improve the overall process around structural engineering. Prepare conceptual rigging arrangement design and drawings as per Mayfield Industries standard. Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, AS/NZS 1170& AS/NZS 4100 with good understanding of steel structural design. Work with and assist others in the Engineering and Design team in a collaborative and professional manner. Liaise with Engineering team for designs based on development work, or construction and production engineers associated with the construction or manufacturing of structures or products. Work with the Switchroom Design team to review and refine work practices to bring improved efficiencies in design, construction methods and materials usage, with a more modular system/approach. Resolve client comments and amend designs as required. Create structural design sketches. Interpret architectural and engineering drawings and requirements to create structural design. Check design and drafting work to ensure compliance and correct interpretation of design intent. Reviewing fabrication drawings in line with general arrangement drawings and checklists. Ensure specifications, performance or functional requirements are followed in projects.
