About the role
We are seeking a Real Estate Trust Accountant to join our team in Aveley, WA 6069 on a full-time basis. This is a key position within our finance department, responsible for managing trust accounts and ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with real estate legislation and trust accounting standards. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of client trust funds and providing reliable financial information to support our business operations. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in the specialised field of real estate trust accounting whilst contributing to the smooth operation of our residential property services.
Key responsibilities
* Managing and reconciling trust accounts in accordance with real estate legislation and industry best practice
* Preparing accurate and timely trust account statements and financial reports for clients and regulatory bodies
* Recording and processing financial transactions related to trust funds, including deposits, withdrawals and transfers
* Conducting regular bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies to ensure account accuracy
* Maintaining detailed records of all trust account transactions and documentation as required by regulatory standards
* Creating Annual Budgets for Commercial and Strata Properties
* Preparing financial reports and analysis for management and stakeholders
* Ensuring compliance with real estate trust account legislation, auditing requirements and internal policies
* Liaising with clients, financial institutions and auditors regarding trust account matters
* Assisting with year-end financial close processes and audit preparations
* Supporting the broader accounting function with general bookkeeping and administrative tasks as required
What we're looking for
* Qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline (such as a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting)
* Proven experience in trust accounting, property accounting or a similar regulated financial environment
* Strong knowledge of real estate trust account legislation and compliance requirements, or willingness to develop this expertise
* Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems, with experience in trust accounting packages preferred
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record‐keeping and reporting
* Strong reconciliation and problem‐solving skills
* Ability to work independently whilst maintaining effective communication with colleagues and clients
* Sound understanding of accounting principles and practices
* Demonstrated commitment to compliance, confidentiality and professional ethics
* Experience in a real estate or property management environment would be advantageous
