Blue Frog Design (BFD) is a boutique consultancy specialising in electrical and communications engineering for urban developments across Victoria. We’re an A rated contractor with Powercor and hold a Rating 1 across our services with AusNet, partnering closely with developers, constructors and authorities to deliver high-quality, compliant outcomes from design through to Statement of Compliance (SoC).
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Detailer / Draftsperson to join our team and play a key role in bringing our designs to life on site and in as-built documentation – with a clear pathway into Design for the right person.
The Role
Based in our Mulgrave office (with some flexibility for hybrid work), you’ll work across a diverse range of underground electrical and Telecommunication projects for land developments and related infrastructure.
You’ll be responsible for accurately capturing what’s built in the field and converting it into clear, compliant as-built drawings and documentation that support SoC and authority approvals.
Key responsibilities:
Site detailing of underground electrical and Telecommunication assets (pits, conduits, cables, pillars, kiosks, public lighting, etc.)Creating, revising and updating as-built and technical drawings in AutoCADEnsuring all drawings align with relevant network and industry standards, drafting conventions and QA requirementsWorking closely with Project Managers, Designers and on-site auditors to verify construction against approved designsDelivering work within agreed scopes, timeframes and specificationsPerforming quality checks on your own work and contributing to continuous improvement of our detailing processesInterpreting technical information (plans, mark-ups, survey data, photos) and communicating clearly with internal stakeholders and, at times, clients and contractors
This role is a gateway into electrical design & Project Management for candidates who show strong technical aptitude, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
Solid experience using AutoCAD (experience with electrical, civil or infrastructure drafting is highly regarded)Exposure to the electrical distribution or land development industry – particularly underground asset location, URD or Telecommunication/pit & pipe (desirable)Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to quality and accuracyGood written and verbal communication skillsA proactive, “step in and help” mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a teamA current driver’s licence and willingness to attend site when required
