MacKillop Catholic College is seeking an experienced and dedicated Finance Manager to join our dynamic team for an immediate start. This full-time position is based in Palmerston, NT and plays a key role in ensuring the financial sustainability, compliance and operational effectiveness of the College.
Working closely with the Business Manager and College leadership, the Finance Manager will provide expert financial oversight, manage core finance operations and contribute to the strategic financial direction of the College.
What you'll be doing
* Working under the direction of the Business Manager you will:
* Provide leadership and expert advice in financial management and accountability across the College
* Oversee day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, asset management and taxation compliance
* Prepare and analyse periodic financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership and the College Board
* Monitor budget performance, investigate variances and support the preparation and management of the College's annual budget
* Manage end-to-end payroll processes including timesheets, leave calculations, contract administration and compliance with Single Touch Payroll
* Prepare and lodge statutory reporting including BAS, PAYG, superannuation and other financial compliance requirements
* Oversee financial reconciliations including bank accounts, credit cards and payroll reconciliation
* Coordinate internal and external audit processes and prepare financial statements for board reporting
* Maintain and reconcile asset registers and support capital planning and asset management
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, suppliers and Catholic Education Northern Territory stakeholders
* Lead and support the Finance team while contributing to continuous improvement of financial policies and processes
What we're looking for
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
* Membership of, or working towards membership of, a professional accounting body (CPA or CA)
* Demonstrated experience in financial management, accounting operations and financial reporting
* Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis and accounting standards
* Experience managing payroll and compliance with Australian taxation requirements (BAS, GST, PAYG, Superannuation)
* Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
* Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and integrity
* Experience leading or supervising staff is highly desirable
* Experience within an educational environment and knowledge of TechnologyOne systems will be highly regarded
