Overview
We are working on behalf of a leading Groundworks and Civil Engineering contractor operating across the South Coast. Known for delivering high-quality groundwork packages for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects, they are now looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced and driven Quantity Surveyor.
Role Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial management and cost control of groundwork projects from pre-construction through to final accounts. You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting project delivery teams and ensuring profitable outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial aspects of multiple groundworks projects
- Prepare, submit and negotiate tenders, variations, and final accounts
- Track project budgets, valuations, and forecasts
- Perform site visits and liaise with operational staff and clients
- Prepare and present cost/value reports
- Monitor subcontractor performance and payments
- Ensure compliance with contractual and commercial requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the Groundworks or Civil Engineering sector
- Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contract forms
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and reporting skills
- Proficiency with MS Excel and industry-specific software (e.g., Causeway, Candy, COINS)
- Full UK driving licence
- Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (desirable)
