Casual position with an hourly rate in the range of $43.79 to $48.20, plus superannuation of 11.5% (HEW Level 3)
The University of Queensland's School of Dentistry is inviting expressions of interest from qualified dental assistants who are interested in casual opportunities.
As a Casual Dental Assistant, you will support students and UQ clinical staff at the School of Dentistry’s student-led Dental Clinic.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Supporting clinical operations to ensure a smooth, effective teaching and treatment environment.
Set up, clean, sterilise, and store dental instruments and equipment in line with infection control standards.
Maintain accurate clinic records and uphold professional presentation standards.
Book, receive and prepare patients for treatment under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator.
About You
We welcome applications from Dental Assistants who hold a Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or equivalent Dental Assisting Qualification) and have hands-on experience as a chairside Dental Assistant. A Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Radiography stream) would be desirable.
Experience with Chairside Assisting
Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience assisting during general and/or specialty dental procedures, with strong skills in instrument handling, sterilisation, and patient preparation
Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and team members
Willingness to Learn and Grow Professionally
Demonstrates a proactive attitude toward learning new skills, techniques, and technologies in a dynamic clinical environment. Open to ongoing training and development opportunities.
The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks prior to commencement including the right to work in Australia, mandatory immunisations, and Blue Card check.
