About The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) Claims Officer to join our team at Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). This critical role provides strategic insight and high-level advice on VMO model utilisation, conducts detailed analysis of VMO claim data, and ensures compliance with NSW Health policies.
As The VMO Claims Lead, You Will
Provide leadership and expert advice on VMO claims policies, supporting checkers and approvers to optimise claim management and reporting.
Manage and audit claims practices, addressing findings promptly and identifying barriers that require cultural or practice change.
Develop and monitor KPIs for VMO claims, including compliance, process mapping, and performance review requirements.
Provide strategic insights and reporting to executives, analysing claim data, expenditure trends, and systemic issues to inform decision-making.
Build strong stakeholder relationships with managers, VMOs, and medical teams, resolving disputes and ensuring contract compliance.
Lead education programs for clerks, approvers, managers and VMOs to enhance the quality of the data and ensure compliance.

About You
Tertiary qualifications (degree level) and/or professional memberships, with relevant experience in finance, accounting or audit, or significant experience in a similar role.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply government legislation, policies, procedures and directives, with sound judgment in addressing complex financial and operational issues.
Knowledge of current government policy and regulations, with ability to remain current on contemporary accounting and audit standards, government legislation and communication technologies.
Strong ability to build productive working relationships and problem-solve collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clinicians, hospital management and administrative staff.
Experience developing and preparing analytical reports, with capacity to deliver high-level interpretive summaries, conclusions and recommendations for executives and boards.
Demonstrated ability to prepare guidance material and training using contemporary platforms, and to lead groups in developing collegiate networks across the LHD.
