About the Role
As a Biosecurity Support Officer with Riverina Local Land Services (LLS), you will be part of a regionally based team delivering frontline field services to protect NSW's economy, environment and communities. This important role involves implementing animal and plant biosecurity programs, managing invasive species, supporting emergency response efforts and helping landholders meet their biosecurity obligations.
You will work closely with landholders, local government and other agencies to deliver practical, on-the-ground outcomes aligned with the NSW Biosecurity Strategy. You'll also contribute to compliance programs, provide advice and support recovery efforts following biosecurity emergencies.
What You'll Do
* Assist with delivery of animal biosecurity, plant biosecurity, invasive species management and emergency response activities in line with business plans.
* Undertake field work including pest and disease management, surveillance and traceability to meet national performance standards.
* Support compliance activities under relevant biosecurity legislation and guidelines.
* Contribute to team-based delivery, knowledge sharing and skill development within LLS.
* Engage with landholders, local government and stakeholders to share information, advice and support.

Essential Requirements
* The ability to undertake Biosecurity Officer accreditation including a Certificate IV in Government Investigations
* The ability to hold and maintain Authorised Control Officer status under the Biosecurity Act
* Appropriate pesticide application qualifications or ability to obtain (AQF3 and AQF4)
* The capacity to hold an NSW firearms licence or equivalent, as well as obtain the Statement of Attainment – Use firearms to humanely destroy animals (AQF AHCVPT203A or AHCPMG304)
* Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel within the region as required.
